In July Rich and I were invited to Giffoni Festival; the world's largest film festival dedicated to children. Its been running for almost 50 years and is held every year in the mountain village of Giffoni near Naples in Italy. Our Italian distributors Koch Media commissioned a life sized Shaun and Lula to stand alongside a giant 3D printed replica UFO from the film... It was really cool! As you can see in the video above they arranged popcorn to be fired from canons into the crowd of children.

Back in the summer, Adam Savage and the @testedcom team came to conduct a series of behind the scenes interviews. Adam's knowledge and enthusiasm for the craft was inspiring!

"As part of our partnership with EARLY MAN, now in cinemas, we are super excited to welcome Aardman Animation Director Will Becher to join us for a supper evening in the Canteen. Hear about Will’s story and watch examples of his amazing work in a range of animations from Wallace & Gromit to Creature Comforts and Shaun the Sheep, plus of course, the brand new Aardman movie – EARLY MAN. Will is well versed in presenting his work, as seen on Blue Peter, BBC Breakfast, and the Manchester Animation Festival."
A little clip from the #EarlyMan segment...
A couple of images from my trip to BBC MediaCity in Salford. I'm impressed whenever I see live TV and radio teams operate...
I've been friends with the folk who run #MAF since my days on the Channel4 AIR scheme in Bradford Media Museum. So I was really happy to be back with them in their 3rd year to talk about Aardman's amazing animated worlds. My talk: "Creating Worlds at Aardman" focused on and celebrated the work of the set dressing and art department. The audience also got a sneak preview of some of the new shots from "Early Man". The 3-day Manchester Animation festival celebrates all things animated and I loved meeting so many enthusiastic people, seeing some old friends (and getting a chance to finally see some new shorts).
http://www.manchesteranimationfestival.co.uk/gallery/ It's lovely to work in a studio that invites so many different people/crews in to visit, and Blue Peter is one of my favourites. Recently I was lucky enough to meet presenter Lindsey Russell and help launch a brand new competition. Watch the clip here:
